Clair Obscur: A Masterclass in Broken Design

short-reviews May 9, 2025

Clair Obscur almost nails the modern RPG formula, blending clever mechanics with a haunting art style. But then it goes and ruins it by letting players turn Stendahl Maelle into a damage-dealing godmode character—seriously, over 3 billion damage? That’s not a build, that’s a nuke. While the game’s creativity shines through in its level design and storytelling, this kind of exploit feels like a step too far, even for a rogue-like. If fixed, Clair Obscur could be a standout title—just don’t expect us to care about your bosses when we can obliterate them with ease.
