When we need it most, search sucks

short-reviews Aug 7, 2025

In a world overflowing with digital content, search functionality feels increasingly inadequate. Despite having years of accumulated data, finding specific emails or files often leads to frustration. "I swear Gmail is just messing with me sometimes." When searching for 'Metal Gear,' I was bombarded with irrelevant results instead of the specific email I needed. - Windows 11's search is similarly flawed, prioritizing web results over local content. - Even AI attempts, like Google's Gemini, struggle without precise queries. While there are improvements, the overall experience leaves much to be desired. Perhaps tech companies prefer we accept context-stripped information rather than empowering us to find what we truly seek. In 2025, it seems search is getting worse just when we need it most.
