Directive 8020: A Lackluster Addition to the Dark Pictures Series

short-reviews Apr 29, 2026

After an hour with Directive 8020, I find myself feeling concerned about its overall impact. Supermassive's signature style seems to have lost some of its punch, relying heavily on familiar tropes without significant innovation. - The dialogue feels stilted, lacking the engaging charm of past entries. - Character development appears shallow, making it hard to care about their fates. - Choices often feel inconsequential, dampening the immersive experience. While the visuals remain impressive, they can't compensate for the weak narrative. Overall, it struggles to capture the magic of earlier titles like House of Ashes. I hope future updates address these concerns before its full release.
