A bittersweet farewell to Destiny 2, one of the best - and worst - games I've ever played

short-reviews May 25, 2026

So, Destiny 2 is dying and it might take most of Bungie with it. I have spoken at length about how a continued prioritisation of the bottom-line over a loyal playerbase has ravaged the very soul of the game. For many of us, the writing feels like it's been on the walls since as early as 2023. Destiny 2 has not been the game I fell in love with for years now, yet news of its demise left me feeling rather sad. It’s a classic case of what once was becoming a shadow of its former self. The nostalgia is bittersweet, as the game struggles to maintain its identity amidst corporate pressures. Despite its flaws, the memories of epic moments and friendships formed are worth cherishing. I hope Bungie can find a way back to the essence that made Destiny 2 a beloved title. In conclusion, it's a tragic end for a game that had so much potential. Read more about this farewell.
